"Dunaway Gardens has been asleep under a warm blanket of Wisteria and Ivy for many, many decades. She is awake now, and slowly beginning to stretch her limbs for all who would like to enjoy her splendor, majesty and grace."   J.B.

Welcome to Dunaway Gardens of Newnan, Georgia. These Gardens have too long been a hidden treasure, located only 30 minutes south of Atlanta, 6 miles north of Newnan, and minutes from the quaint historical town of Roscoe. This once magnificent garden was allowed to fall into a dilapidated state for many decades. Its beauty being choked by a tangle of vines and the passage of time. Dunaway Gardens was a theatrical training ground for producers, directors and performers of the arts during the golden years of the 20's, 30's and 40's. Hetty Jane Dunaway was a talented vivacious actress from Arkansas, who rose to fame as one of the most popular on the Chautauqua Circuit. She was the creator of the theatrical training center and floral rock gardens that bear her name, Dunaway Gardens. These Gardens have played host to Ballet Troupes, indoor and outdoor theater, as well as Walt and Roy Disney and Minnie Pearl. Until recently, these Gardens have not been open or in bloom for nearly half a century. Welcome back, Dunaway Gardens!

The admission price is $10.00 per person for adults and $8.00 for children. Group tours are available by appointment by calling 678.423.4050 or email

Dunaway Gardens Foundation, Inc. was formed to support the preservation of the history and natural beauty of Dunaway Gardens through educational programs, historical exhibitions, cultural events, research and environmental activities. The Dunaway Gardens Foundation is a Georgia non-profit 501C (3) Corporation.
This brief tour of Dunaway Gardens begins at the original pillared entrance. You'll see scenes of the gardens as they were in the gardens heyday alternating with scenes of the gardens as they appear today. This was a time of spirited carefree fun, a time when dreams and creative energy collided and exploded into one woman's gift to humanity. Dunaway Gardens is a treasure of dedicated hard work that should and will be brought back to the forefront of notable places for future generations to visit and enjoy. Dunaway Gardens is a treasure of the past that is indeed a treasure of the future. Restoration of this memorable site began in the summer of 2000. The gardens are open on specified days to the public. Visit our website Email, or call 678-423-4050 for Special Events, Weddings, Receptions or Group Garden Tours.
