In the upper reaches of the gardens, Hetty Jane Dunaway designed 4 Arrowhead pools to enhance a 60-foot totem pole rising from the center. Carved by Chief Sawtee from a native poplar on the grounds. The intricate wood sculpture took one year to complete. The totem pole has long since deteriorated, a victim of nature's natural elements, and the empty pools became smothered in a growth of evergreen.
